For my Unit 2 project, I created a typeface inspired by the Brunel Museum.

Some sketches of the letterforms I created based on my research of the building forms, the Brunel shield and steampunk elements.

Final typeface and type specimen

Brunel Shield is a caligraphic typeface inspired by the emphasis of time, construction and early development of technology with the Brunel Museum and the Thames Tunnel. I tried to bring elements of the construction forms and the sub-genre of Steampunk with- in this typeface, to reflect on the Industrial Revolution and the time it was built around.
